An Awareness of Grace

I don’t know all about this gift, For He alone knows all.
But I do know it’s mine from Him, And from my heart can’t fall.

Understanding

Understanding

add…to godliness brotherly kindness:..”

Before afflictions, I went far afield,

From an unstanding way.

Predjudices and a legal heart,

Were that which ruled my day.

But when one day, the Holy Ghost said,

It was my appointed time,

To enter fiery trials alone,

It made me far more kind.

I have questioned my faithful brothers,

Concerning walking in God’s plan,

I questioned their wisdom then,

But now I understand.

For I had to seek from my dear Lord

Help in my trials grim.

I needed patience with my weakness.

I needed understanding from Him.

He gave me help for my distress.

But added this lesson grand;

When others wage the soul’s warfare;

Always try to understand!

Let all who wish to walk with God,

Work out with trembling and fear;

Salvation’s in’s and out’s for themselves,

The Lord will make it clear.

My portion to those in such a fight,

Is simply to understand.

To wipe a brow, to say a prayer;

And offer a helping hand.

Contrasting Worlds

CONTRASTING WORLDS

2 Cor. 2:16 To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?

A contrast of worlds is evident today,

To those given eyes to see.

Further down into darkness goes the one;

In bright radiance the others agree.

Eternity is impatient with delaying time,

Urgent for Christ’s glory to reveal.

Measured succession too soon folds its tent;

Timeless eternity to be unveiled.

The glory of Christ, the fire of his eyes,

Purifying again all God’s realm,

Nothing outside that sovereign view,

Our Captain now at the helm.

The glory that struck proud Saul to his knees,

Also raised the martyr Stephen’s hope.

Heaven shall be changed in its brilliance;

While Hell with it can’t cope.

Things that offend taken out of the kingdom;

Wheat stored safely into His barn;

One world locked into darkness eternal,

The other forever from harm.

The difference in worlds changes not God’s glory;

It’s the condition one views glory in;

Redemption receives its full measure;

Damnation the result of its sin!

Internet Death

Internet Death

My Dad died last May, it’s true;

But it caused not a bit of fret.

‘Cause the way I found it out, you see’

Was on the Internet!

The other siblings I did inform;

A cheek never a tear did wet;

‘Cause we didn’t get in on anything,

Till I found it out on the Net!

This computer age is something else,

On it they buy and sell, and bet!

But the most amazing thing I’ve ever found;

Was my Dad’s death on the Net!

His last wife said narry a word,

She just let this story set!

And none of us would have ever known,

If I hadn’t been surfin’ the Net!

It was the Social Security records I read,

And I bet them checks have stopped.

‘Cause if I can find out such as this,

So can them Internet cops!

So when I die, and that I shall,

Don’t cover me with satin and lace.

Just fire me off into the great beyond,

You know, – out into Cyberspace!
